Spotlighting Students while Raising Money ... with Mini Golf

This past March, the Manheim Township Educational Foundation hosted its inaugural Mini Golf Madness event, a fun-filled community gathering that brought together students, families, and the community for an enjoyable celebration of student creativity and teamwork. This event serves as a replicable model for other educational foundations who are interested in celebrating students’ collaborative talents, while building awareness about the foundation’s other programs and initiatives, and raising money to support students and school programs, too.

Held in the intermediate school’s gymnasium, MTEF’s event featured an entertaining mini-golf course showcasing the creative talents and efforts of high school student groups and clubs. The course included nine student-themed holes with student-created obstacles and decorations, making each hole a unique challenge and a delightful experience for participants of all ages. Participating groups of students planned for the event and then assembled on a Friday evening to put their plans into action. On Saturday, members of the community showed up to appreciate the cool themes, the outside-the-box thinking, and some free mini-golf before voting on their favorite holes. Winning teams were awarded prize money for their school’s club, organization, or team. 

In addition to the mini-golf competition in the gymnasium, the cafeteria offered other activities as well as displays that highlighted other programs made possible by MTEF, ensuring there was something enjoyable for everyone. Local businesses and parent volunteers contributed to the success of the day, providing sponsorships and support to make the event a success. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the enthusiastic participation of the community, fostering a sense of unity and school spirit.

The Mini Golf Madness event not only served as a fundraiser for the school district but also as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds. The proceeds from the event will go towards enhancing educational programs and resources within the district. Overall, the inaugural Mini Golf Madness was a resounding success, leaving attendees looking forward to making it an annual tradition.
